Designing with Little Lissa Loo
Designing for Little Lissa Loo: Where Art Meets Childhood
Some collaborations feel less like work and more like stepping into a different world—and designing for Little Lissa Loo was exactly that for me.
This wasn’t just about creating patterns for fabric. It was about designing for tiny humans, for growing imaginations, and for the everyday magic that lives in childhood.
A Shift in Perspective
When I design for my own brand, I’m often thinking about the home—walls, spaces, gifting. But designing for children’s clothing asked something completely different of me.
It made me slow down. Simplify. Soften.
I found myself thinking less about statement pieces and more about feeling—how a design might be experienced by a child.
Designing Through a Child’s Eyes
This collaboration invited me to look at Tasmania in a new way—not just as a landscape, but as a place full of wonder.
Instead of capturing detail, I focused on essence:
-
Shapes that feel gentle and easy
-
Colours that are soft but still full of life
-
Illustrations that leave room for imagination
There’s a quiet balance in children’s design. It needs to be engaging without being overwhelming. Playful without being chaotic.
Wearable Storytelling
What I loved most about this process was watching the designs move beyond the page.
These illustrations don’t just sit still—they become part of real life. They’re worn on little adventures, layered into everyday routines, and wrapped up in moments that matter.
A dress becomes more than a dress.
A romper becomes part of a memory.
That’s something really special.
Rooted in Tasmania, Made for Everyday Life
Even in this softer, more playful space, Tasmania is still at the core of everything I create. The colours, the organic shapes, the sense of calm wildness—it all finds its way in, just in a quieter voice.
Designing for Little Lissa Loo felt like translating the island into something small and wearable. Something that could be taken anywhere, but still carry that sense of place.
Thoughtful Pieces for Little People
One of the things that stood out to me most about Little Lissa Loo is the care behind each piece. These aren’t fast fashion items—they’re designed to be worn, loved, and lived in. They are all made by hand, here in Tasmania.
A Different Kind of Creativity
This collaboration stretched me creatively in the best way. It reminded me that design isn’t one-size-fits-all—it shifts depending on who it’s for, how it’s used, and the story it’s trying to tell.
Designing for children brought a softness back into my work. A lightness. A sense of play that’s easy to lose, but important to hold onto.
If you’re drawn to Hobart children’s clothing, soft, nature-inspired prints, and thoughtfully designed pieces for little ones, Little Lissa Loo is a beautiful brand to discover.
For me, this experience wasn’t just about creating fabric designs—it was about stepping into a gentler, more playful way of seeing the world.
